The Kansas City T-Bones would like to congratulate the Kansas City Royals and Kauffman Stadium for being awarded the 2012 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
Kansas City will host the event for the third time in franchise history, most recently in 1973 when Kauffman Stadium was known as Royals Stadium. The franchise also hosted the game in 1960 at Municipal Stadium during the Kansas City Athletics years.
“This is a great honor for the Royals and the city of Kansas City,” T-Bones general manager Chris Browne said. “Kansas City is a great baseball town that deserves to host marquee events. Growing up working in the Royals clubhouse in the 80's and early 90's, I know Ewing Kauffman would be proud this game is coming back to his place - the K! The T-Bones are excited and I know all baseball fans feel the same way.”
Renovations to Kauffman Stadium began in October 2007 and were completed before the start of the 2009 season.
