T-Bones manager Andy McCauley has announced starting pitcher Anthony Boughner and outfielder Brad Correll have re-signed for the 2008 season.
Boughner started 20 games for the T-Bones last season compiling a 5.50 ERA through an injury-plagued season. He struck out 58 batters while walking 33 in 129.1 innings pitched, finishing with an 8-5 record. In July and August Boughner went 7-1 pitching a combined 85.2 innings with an ERA of 3.78.
“We’re looking forward to having Anthony back,” said McCauley. “He battled some injuries last year so hopefully we can get a healthy year out of him. Anthony will start at the top of the rotation, and hopefully log a lot of innings for us.”
Correll returns to the T-Bones after a stint in the Boston Red Sox organization with Class A Lancaster of the California League. The Red Sox signed him in June after playing 24 games with Kansas City. During that stretch he hit .333 with six home runs and 17 RBI and two stolen bases. With Lancaster, he hit .344 with 23 home runs and 80 RBI.
“I’m kind of surprised to have Brad back with the year he had not only for us, but also the Red Sox,” said McCauley. “I do think he will get another opportunity with an organization, but we will certainly like to have him in the middle of our lineup for as long as we can. Brad will be in left or right field, and can play a little 3B if there is a need.”
The T-Bones open the 2008 season on the road May 15 in Winnipeg, before the home-opener at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on May 23 against Schaumburg. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05. Season tickets and mini plans are available now by calling the T-Bones box office at (913) 328-5618.
