T-Bones Struggles Continue Against RailCats

Kansas City’s Anthony Boughner (pictured) held the RailCats scoreless in the first inning before his offense took a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the frame on an RBI double from Ken Harvey.  The T-Bones picked up another run in the third against Jeremy Plexico when Steve Trout singled home Craig Hurba.
The RailCats tied the contest in the fifth on a two-run single by Jay Pecci that scored Rob Marconi and John McCarthy to put the score at 2-2.  Those were the only two runs Boughner would allow over seven innings of work as he surrendered six hits in a no-decision.
Plexico left after four, allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits in a no-decision.  Brandon Higelin entered for Gary, holding Kansas City scoreless before they retook the lead in the sixth inning on an RBI groundout by Greg Jacobs.  Geoff McCallum began the inning with a walk and scored on the play to give the T-Bones a 3-2 advantage.
Higelin put two runners on with one out in the seventh before giving way to Eddie De La Cruz.  The right-hander got the last two outs in the seventh after hitting the first batter he faced.  He improved to 3-0 on the season.
Andy Shipman took over for Boughner in the eighth and sandwiched a walk between two quick outs.  He then surrendered four straight hits as the RailCats plated three runs to take a 5-3 lead.  Eric Blakeley and McCarthy each drove in a run with doubles and Mike Reese collected an RBI with a single.  Shipman suffered his first loss of the season after surrendering his first three runs on the campaign.
Brady Martinez held the RailCats scoreless in the top of the ninth.  Aaron Cook earned the save for Gary after allowing one hit over the final two scoreless innings.
Kenny Durost will take the mound for the Kansas City against Drew Dickinson for the RailCats.  First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
