The Kansas City T-Bones are happy to announce that Brian Bruce, local product from Lenexa, KS, has been hired as the team’s new radio broadcaster for the 2010 season.
Bruce attended Rockhurst High School before earning a bachelor’s degree in electronic communication from Marquette University. He then returned to the Kansas City area to complete his master’s degree in journalism at the University of Kansas.
“Being the new ‘Voice of the T-Bones’ is a dream job for me,” said Bruce. “To be able to be in my hometown doing a job I love is a great feeling. It shows that if you work hard and keep at it you will get some great opportunities.”
Bruce has spent the last few years in Ottumwa, IA as morning show host and sports director for the Ottumwa Radio family of stations. He has also done play-by-play work in a variety of sports on KBIZ 1240 AM in that span.
“We are excited to have Brian join the staff,” said T-Bones general manager Chris Browne. “He is a local kid that will bring some good energy to our broadcasts.”
Kansas City will host exhibition games against Kansas City Kansas Community College on May 11 and 12. Both games start at 7:05 p.m. The T-Bones begin their 2010 campaign against the RailCats in Gary, IN on May 20 and will host the defending champion Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in their home opener on May 28 at 7:05 p.m. Single-game and season ticket packages are available now by calling 913-328-5618.
