T-Bones, Saltdogs Halted by Weather

05/24/2011 8:21 PM -

Tuesday night’s series opener between the Kansas City T-Bones and Lincoln Saltdogs has been suspended in the middle of the seventh inning due to rain and unsafe playing conditions. The game will be resumed on Wednesday, May 25 as part of a doubleheader.

Kansas City took an early 1-0 lead against Alex Maestri in the first inning on an RBI double by Ray Sadler. The score held until the fourth when the Saltdogs tied it at one when Curt Smith connected for an RBI single off Devin Anderson with one out. Then, in the top of the seventh, a two-run single by Nick Farnsworth off reliever Thomas Palica re-claimed the lead for the T-Bones at 3-1.

During the seventh-inning stretch, Mother Nature intervened and forced the Lincoln grounds crew to cover the field. As a result, the game will be suspended until Wednesday morning at 11:00. It will resume with Lincoln batting in the bottom of the seventh.

Following the completion of the suspended game, the two teams will play a full nine-inning game. To catch all the action while the team is on the road, tune in to KUDL Radio Bach 1660 AM or visit the listen live link on
