KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones continued their hot run in the second half with a 15-4 victory over the Calgary Vipers at Foothills Stadium Saturday afternoon. The win moves the first place T-Bones to 9-7 in the second half.

A first inning three-run home run by Al Benjamin set the pace for the T-Bones, who put the game out of reach with a five-run fifth inning that was jump started with a two-run homer from Calvin Pickering. Kansas City starter Anthony Boughner (pictured) responded with a dazzling outing as he cruised through eight innings to earn his fifth win of the season.

The T-Bones jumped ahead in the first on Benjamin's blast, his fifth home run of the season. The Vipers earned one back in the bottom of the inning as Darryl Brinkley and Drew Miller led off with back-to-back doubles before Kansas City tacked on one more in the second when Aharon Eggleston hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Patrick Arlis, who opened the inning with a double to make the score 4-1.

The T-Bones took full control of the game with a five-run fifth when Benjamin led off with a single and Pickering knocked him in with his 11th round-tripper of the season. Neb Brown followed with a double before Eggleston singled him in. Then Watson doubled home Eggleston to cap off the frame, giving Kansas City a 9-1 lead.

After surrendering a run in the first, Boughner cruised until the eighth when he allowed a three-run homer to Drew Miller that made it 11-4.  But Pickering’s second two-run home run of the game highlighted a four-run ninth that capped the scoring at 15.

Boughner was replaced by Travis Schlicting who pitched a scoreless ninth to finish off the 15-4 win.  Boughner went eight innings, allowing four runs on 10 hits while striking out four without allowing a walk in the win.  The T-Bones scored 11 of their runs off Calgary starter Kazu Minami who went six-and-two thirds innings in a losing effort.

The T-Bones go for the sweep tomorrow afternoon at 2:35 CST at Foothills Stadium.
