2012 T-Bones Reading Program Underway01/05/2012 8:23 AM - Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., Saint John Hospital, Leavenworth, Kan., and the Kansas City T-Bones, Kansas City, Kan., are teaming up once again to sponsor the 2011-2012 reading program for area students. “Providence and Saint John are excited to be a part of the popular T-Bones Reading Program again,” says Catherine Rice, senior associate of communications with the hospitals. “It’s wonderful to be a part of a tradition that encourages area children to read throughout the year.” This school year the T-Bones Reading Program is asking students to read 2,000 minutes by March 31, 2012. For their achievement, each student who reaches this goal will receive a voucher good for two tickets to a 2012 Kansas City T-Bones game. The scoresheets that are used to keep track of the children’s reading minutes have been distributed to Kansas City, Kan. area schools and public libraries. They also are available in the Providence front lobby; in the Providence Business Development department, located on the Providence campus in the Doctors Building, Suite 124; and at Saint John Hospital in the main lobby and Administration. Copies of the scoresheets can be made as needed. The scoresheet is designed so that every 20 minutes a student reads they get to color in a baseball or box on their way to Sizzle, with their ultimate goal to read 2,000 minutes.
