T-Bones Selected as Kansas City, Kansas Chamber Small Business of Year

10/13/2006 2:52 PM - KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones have enjoyed a great deal of success in their four seasons, both on and off the field. The T-Bones now have some hardware to add to awards that have included the Northern League’s Organization of the Year in 2004, as the T-Bones have been selected as the Kansas City, Kansas Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year for 2006.

The T-Bones were selected for the award from a pool of over twenty nominees, which were culled down to five finalists. The pool of five also included Chateau Avalon, Kansas City Catering, First State Bank, and ABMI-Mergers and Acquisitions.

“We’re thrilled to be recognized for this honor,” said Adam Ehlert, Vice President of Ehlert Development Corporation and part-owner of the T-Bones (pictured). “We hope that our organization will follow this success off the field with a Northern League championship in 2007.”

The T-Bones were recognized for their ability to provide affordable family fun to Wyandotte County, as well as for attendance increases of nearly 27% in their four seasons of existence. The T-Bones ranked fifth of 55 independent league teams in per-game attendance this season, and were again tops in all of baseball in average attendance as a percentage of stadium capacity. On the field, the T-Bones were in contention for a playoff spot until the final weekend of the season, and received seven all-star selections as well as other individual honors.

The T-Bones wish to thank their fans and supporters as the impetus for this award. “We know that T-Bones fans are the greatest fans in the world,” said Ehlert. “This award is, more importantly, a tribute to them as well.”
