Joliet Pounds Out 13 Hits in 11-3 Win

The Kansas City T-Bones (10-5) fell to the Joliet JackHammers (9-7), 11-3, in front of 6,565 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark Saturday night.

Jonathan Wyatt singled off Kansas City starter Cody McAllister (1-1) to begin the game and scored on a ground out, giving Joliet an early 1-0 lead.  Kansas City answered in the bottom of the second off Joliet starter Bear Bay (2-2) when Jim Fasano homered for the second time in as many days, knotting the score at one.

The JackHammers took the lead for good in the third, scoring three runs on a double by Freddie Thon, and they extended their lead in the fourth on two sacrifice flies, giving them a 6-1 advantage.  McAllister left in favor of Kyle Dahman with three on and no outs in the fourth, allowing six runs, five earned, on six hits in the loss.

A solo home run by Fasano in the fourth cut Joliet’s lead to 6-2 before the JackHammers added two more in the fifth on a home run by Ryan Basham, bringing the score to 8-2.  Dahman surrendered two runs on four hits in two innings, striking out one and walking one.

The T-Bones added a run in the bottom half of the fifth with an RBI single by Keanon Simon.  Bay exited after seven innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits in the victory.

Erik Hamren started the sixth for the T-Bones and threw two scoreless innings before the JackHammers scored three runs off him in the eighth.  Hamren exited with one out in the frame, allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits while striking out four and walking one.  Kevin Light entered and recorded the final outs of the frame, allowing one hit and striking out one.

Drew Graham threw a scoreless ninth for Kansas City.  Fasano finished two-for-three with two solo home runs.
