Cody McAllister (4-2) and the Kansas City T-Bones (23-16) coasted to a 6-0 victory in their matinee contest with the Schaumburg Flyers (14-25) this afternoon, securing a series victory in game three of a four-game series at Alexian Field.
Keanon Simon singled to begin the game against Alain Quijano (1-5) and scored on Jacob Blackwood’s 11th home run of the season for a quick 2-0 T-Bones lead. Kansas City would add four more in the fifth inning, using four hits and two Schaumburg errors to extend their advantage to 6-0. The first two runs came around to score on a throwing error by third baseman Brandon Newton, his second error of the inning and one of four for the third bagger in the contest. Simon followed with an RBI double and scored the final tally on an RBI single by Blackwood.
Quijano left after seven innings having allowed six runs, four earned, on nine hits in the loss.
McAllister threw a perfect first inning for Kansas City before the Flyers put their first two batters on in the second with a single and a walk. The right-hander then retired the next three hitters to end the inning, and sat down 14 straight before surrendering consecutive singles with two out in the sixth. McAllister retired the next hitter, then held Schaumburg to just two more runners on over the final three innings.
McAllister allowed just four hits while striking out 10 and walking one in his first career complete game and shutout.
Kansas City goes for the four-game sweep tomorrow night as they send right-hander Steven Stewart (3-1, 3.12) to the mound for his first start of the season. The Flyers counter with right-hander Dustin Glant (4-1, 3.06). First pitch is set for 7:00.
