The Kansas City T-Bones are happy to announce that Baseball America has named Jacob Blackwood (pictured, left) and Ray Sadler (right) to their 2010 All-Independent Leagues Team.
Blackwood, 25, was a first-team selection by Baseball America after a tremendous campaign that earned him the 2010 Northern League MVP award. The Platte City, MO native nearly captured the league’s first Triple Crown since 2000 after pacing the league in home runs (31) and RBI (86), and finishing third in average (.331). The home run total set a T-Bones single-season record and fell two shy of the league mark.
Following the season, Blackwood’s contract was purchased by the San Francisco Giants organization.
Sadler, 30, was a second-team choice after the former Pittsburgh Pirate posted a .318/.372/.569 line with 23 home runs and 83 RBI in his first independent league season. He ended the campaign tied with Blackwood for the league lead in runs (82) and finished eighth in the league in average.
Both Blackwood and Sadler were post-season all-star selections for the Northern League. To view the entire 2010 All-Independent League roster, click here. To subscribe to Baseball America, visit their website at http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/
