08/24/2003 9:47 AM - For the third straight game, the RedHawks jumped out to first inning lead. Juan Melo doubled down the right field line to score Joe Mathis from first base. Mathis had walked to lead off the game. Fargo-Moorhead took a 2-0 lead in the third inning, as Mathis clubbed a solo home run.
Kansas City answered back in the top of the fourth inning, plating three runs off Fargo-Moorhead starting pitcher Jodie Kennedy. Rodney Clifton delivered the big blow, a two-run home run. Skip Adams added an RBI single to give the T-Bones a 3-2 lead. The 'Hawks tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the inning, as Mathis' RBI groundout scored Brad Mazer.
The T-Bones plated single runs in the fifth and seventh innings. Chad Shindle notched and RBI single and Eddie Pearson drilled his 14th home run of the season, a solo shot, to give his team a 5-3 lead. Kansas City extended their lead to 6-3 in the eighth inning, as Chris LePine's sacrifice fly scored Bruce Nelson. Toby Rumfield brought the 'Hawks to within 6-4 with a solo home run.
Kansas City starting pitcher Jayson Sigley (5-3) was very effective, pitching eigh innings and allowing four runs on seven hits. He walked five batters and struck out nine. Kennedy took the loss for Fargo-Moorhead. He pitched 5.1 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on ten hits. Kennedy struck out three batters and walked two.
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks will conclude their four-game series against the
Kansas City T-Bones on Monday night at Newman Outdoor Field. Game time is
