KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Northern League office announced Monday that Jim Fasano (pictured) was named Northern League Player of the Week and pitcher Anthony Boughner was named Pitcher of the Week for the week ending May 25, 2008.
Fasano capped of the week with a six-for-nine weekend against the Schaumburg Flyers and drove in a league-high 12 runs for the week. The first baseman also leads the league with nine extra-base hits, including a league-leading seven doubles. Fasano is second in the league with a slugging percentage of .614 and 14 hits.
Boughner has won his first two starts of the season, allowing only one earned run in his combined 12 innings. He has also struck out nine batters through his first two starts of the season.
Boughner is in his second season with the T-Bones after making 20 starts in 2007 in which he logged a career-high 129 and one-thirds innings. The left-hander will start the final game of a four-game series with the Schaumburg Flyers Monday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
