KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones won their rubber match tonight against the Gary SouthShore RailCats, taking the three-game series to earn their third series win of the season.  The T-Bones improved to 10-4, maintaining their first-place position.

In front of 4,010 fans, both offenses got on the board early and often with the T-Bones holding a 3-2 lead after one.  Gary got both their first-inning runs against Reid Hamblet on RBI singles from Eric McNamee and Steve Haake.  Kansas City responded with back-to-back home runs off Billy Phillips from Brad Correll (pictured) and Jim Fasano to get the advantage.  Phillips left after three innings, allowing five runs on six hits in a no-decision.

The T-Bones added single runs in the second and third innings before Tanner Townsend plated two with a home run in the top of the fourth to bring Gary within one, 5-4.  Kansas City pushed their lead to two in the bottom of the frame, but the RailCats continued to claw their way back with another two-run inning in the fifth, using two T-Bones errors to tie the game at six.  Hamblet allowed eight runs, six earned, on 10 hits in five-plus innings of work.  He did not factor into the decision.

Kansas City retook the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, both coming on an RBI double from Geoff McCallum off Drew Dickinson to push the score to 8-6.  But in the top of the sixth inning, Gary tied the game with their third consecutive two-run frame, using an RBI single from Mike Reese and an RBI double from Jay Pecci to even the score 8-8.

The game stayed deadlocked until the bottom of the eighth when Correll drove in his fourth run of the night with an RBI double off Brad Voyles, plating Eggleston to push the go-ahead run across.  Voyles fell to 0-3 on the campaign.

Tag Horner got the final two outs in the eighth for Kansas City to pick up his first win of the season.  David Trahan earned his fourth save with a scoreless ninth.

The T-Bones hit the road for a three-game series at Schaumburg beginning tomorrow night.  Rick Rivas looks to take the mound for Kansas City against Matthew Varner for the Flyers.  First pitch is scheduled for 6:45.
