KANSAS CITY, Kan. – In front of 5,086 fans, the Kansas City T-Bones lost the first game of their three-game series against the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 8-4.  Kansas City maintains their hold on first despite falling to 12-6.

Player of the Week Brad Correll hit a two-run home run off Brandon Kintzler in the first inning to give the T-Bones an early lead.  Mark Michael held the Goldeyes scoreless in the first two innings before surrendering a home run to Max Poulin to start the third, bringing Winnipeg within one.

The T-Bones picked up another run in the fourth when Steve Trout scored on an RBI single by Aharon Eggleston.  Eggleston was thrown out trying to advance to second to end the frame.

The Goldeyes knocked Michael out of the game in the sixth as the first five batters of the inning collected hits.  Michael was pulled after the fourth batter, Antoin Gray, tripled home Tydus Meadows to tie the game at four.  Chris Rhoads entered for Michaels and surrendered a hit to Trino Aguilar, plating Gray to give Winnipeg a 5-4 lead. Michael fell to 1-3, allowing five runs on seven hits in five-plus innings.

Winnipeg scored a single run in the seventh and got two more in the ninth on a home run by Brent Metheny off Tag Horner.  Kansas City capped off their scoring when a throwing error by Gray allowed Kevin Mahar to score in the eighth inning as they fell 8-4.

Metheny paced the Goldeyes, falling a triple short of the cycle as he finished three-for-three with two RBI and three runs scored.  Rob Watson (pictured) walked four times to set a team record and tie the Northern League record for walks in a game.

The two teams face off tomorrow as the T-Bones send Reid Hamblet out to face Ace Walker of Winnipeg.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
