Three T-Bones Added to Great Plains Roster

07/02/2009 11:52 AM -

The Kansas City T-Bones are happy to announce that Greg Jacobs, Mark Minicozzi and Daniel Sattler have been added to the Great Plains team for the 2009 Northern League All-Star Game, set for July 7 at Silver Cross Field in Joliet, Illinois.

Jacobs rejoined Kansas City on June 1 and is hitting .317 with five home runs and 27 RBI in his 27 games with Kansas City.  Entering tonight’s game versus the JackHammers, the veteran outfielder is batting .435 (10-for-23) with seven RBI over his last six games.

After missing the entire 2008 season, Minicozzi has come on of late, hitting safely in his last 10 games and in 15 of his last 16.  In that span, the shortstop is batting .382 (21-for-55) with seven home runs and 20 RBI.  Since June 14, Minicozzi has increased his average by 83 points (.182 to .265).

Sattler made his T-Bones debut on May 30 and has dominated opposing hitters over his first 15 games with Kansas City.  The right-hander hasn’t allowed a run over his last eight and two-thirds innings, surrendering just two hits while striking out 15 in that span.  Sattler has allowed a run in just three of his 15 outings and has posted at least one strikeout in all but two of those appearances.  Batters are hitting .159 off him this season.

The addition of Jacobs, Minicozzi and Sattler now push Kansas City’s total contribution to the Great Plains roster to 11.  The three players join infielders Ryan Fox and Damian Rolls, catcher Craig Hurba, and pitchers Luis Villarreal and Ryan Knippschild.  Manager Andy McCauley, pitching coach Rick DeHart and hitting coach Tim Doherty will be making the trip to Joliet as well to form the Great Plains coaching staff.

Kansas City climbed above. 500 (21-20) for the first time since June 11 with their sixth straight win last night and look to finish off a four-game sweep of Joliet tonight.  Dustin Bolton takes the mound for the T-Bones opposite Rory Shortell.  First pitch is set for 7:05.
