10/21/2009 8:39 AM - The T-Bones are proud to announce the 2009-2010 reading program, Read Your Way to Sizzle, sponsored by Providence Medical Center and Saint John Hosiptal. The T-Bones are encouraging area students to read 2000 minutes this school year. For their efforts, each student who completes their minutes will receive a voucher for two tickets to selected Reading Program Nights during the T-Bones 2010 season.
"Providence and Saint John are excited to be a part of the popular T-Bones Reading Program," says Catherine Rice, Senior Associate of Communications with the hospitals. "It's wonderful to join in a tradition that encourage area children to read throughout the year."
The scoresheets for students to track their minutes are available at area schools, area libraries, the T-Bones TeamStore at the Legends, the hospitals' front lobbies and the Providence Business Development department, located on the Providence campus in the Doctors Building, Suite 124. Scoresheets are also posted on the T-Bones website at Reading Program Scoresheet . The scoresheets are designed so that for every 20 minutes read, the student colors in a baseball or square as they work their way to Sizzle, and their goal of 2000 minutes.
"The cornerstone of the program is a series of school visits by T-Bones' staff and mascot Sizzle," said Adam Ehlert, T-Bones Vice-President. "Since the program's inception, thousands of children have enjoyed free minor league baseball games simply as a reward for reading books of their choice."
Completed scoresheets should be mailed to: Kansas City T-Bones Baseball Club, Attn: Reading Program, 1800 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, KS 66111 or dropped off at the T-Bones TeamStore during business hours before March 31, 2010.
