Hurba initially joined the T-Bones in 2006 after spending his first two professional seasons in the Texas Rangers organization, playing in 95 of the T-Bones 96 games on the campaign.  He quickly demonstrated his power potential, blasting 18 home runs (T-2 in the NoL) while adding 20 doubles and posting a .506 slugging percentage.  Following the season, Hurba was named to Baseball America’s Top Independent Prospect list.  On December 4, 2006, the Seattle Mariners purchased his contract and sent him to Single-A High Desert to begin the 2007 season.

Hurba spent the year within the Mariners organization before returning to Kansas City in 2008.  Injuries limited Hurba to just 50 regular-season games in 2008, but he still managed to post 12 home runs and 43 RBI in that span.  He continued to make an impact in the postseason, blasting one of two T-Bones grand slams against the Gary SouthShore RailCats on September 10, 2008 as Kansas City rallied from a 7-1 deficit to take game two of the 2008 Northern League Championship Series.  The T-Bones went on to win the team’s first Northern League Championship.

Hurba enjoyed a full season in 2009, appearing in 91 games while hitting 15 home runs and driving in a career-high 69 runs, good for fourth in the league.  He enters the 2010 season fourth on the franchise career home run list (45) and sits fifth in T-Bones history in RBI (159).
