The Kansas City T-Bones (17-11) defeated the Schaumburg Flyers (7-20), 8-1, in front of 5,171 fans Friday night at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
Schaumburg scored early, plating a run in the second off Kansas City starter Andrew Cruse (3-2) on an RBI triple by Andre Marshall. The T-Bones took the lead in the bottom half as Keith Hernandez doubled home two runs off Flyers starter Cody Evans (0-3), giving Kansas City led 2-1 after two.
The T-Bones used doubles by Ryan Fox, Jimmy Mojica, Keanon Simon and Jim Fasano (pictured) to add six runs in the fourth, extending their lead to 8-1. Simon and Fasano each drove in two runs with their doubles. The six runs chased Evans, who surrendered eight runs on 10 hits over three and two-thirds innings.
Cruse’s only blemish was the run in the second, as he departed after seven innings, scattering five hits, striking out four and walking two. Kyle Heim and Franklin Perez, who signed before the game, pitched scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth respectively, each allowing one hit.
Fasano finished the game three-for-four with two RBI and one run to highlight the T-Bones attack.
