The Kansas City T-Bones have announced their 100-game schedule for the 2011 season, their first as members of the independent American Association.
The T-Bones open the season on the road against the El Paso Diablos on Thursday, May 12. Following a four-game series, Kansas City starts a six-game homestand with their home opener against the Gary SouthShore RailCats on Tuesday, May 17 at 7:05 p.m. After three games with the RailCats, the T-Bones welcome the Grand Prairie AirHogs, led by former major leaguer Pete Incaviglia, for the first time.
In a rematch of the 2010 Northern League Championship Series, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks visit Kansas City for the first time in 2011 from June 7-9. It is the only visit by Fargo during the 2011 regular season.
Kansas City’s move to the American Association creates two exciting, local rivalries with the Wichita Wingnuts and Lincoln Saltdogs. The clash begins with a trip to Lincoln from May 24-26. Kansas City visits the Saltdogs again in July for three-game series on July 11-13 and 22-24 before Lincoln makes their only visit to CommunityAmerica Ballpark on August 12-14. The two teams matchup a total of 12 times during the 2011 campaign.
The inaugural T-Bones/Wingnuts battle is set for the weekend of June 3-5 in Wichita. The teams face off again for five games in six days from July 1-6, with the July 3 and 4 games marking Wichita’s first visit to Kansas City. The T-Bones and Wingnuts play 14 times in 2011.
Kansas City’s 50-game home schedule will feature four (4) Monday games; eight (8) games on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; and seven (7) games on Saturday and Sunday. Monday-Saturday games are still 7:05 p.m. starts at CommunityAmerica Ballpark and Sundays remain 5:05 p.m. contests, with the following exceptions:
