T-Bones Welcome Amarillo to American Association

The Kansas City T-Bones are happy to welcome Amarillo to the American Association in 2011.

The American Association announced last week that the sale and relocation of the Pensacola membership to Amarillo has been approved. Former major leaguer and Amarillo resident Mark Lee has been named general manager of the new team.

“This adds to the league’s footprint in Texas, which now features two long-time baseball cities in Amarillo and El Paso,” said T-Bones general manager Chris Browne. “We think fans will enjoy seeing the new matchups against the Texas teams.”

The team will be operated by Southern Independent Baseball (SIB), who was recently granted a lease on the Amarillo ballpark by the Potter County commissioners.

“We are extremely happy to have Amarillo as a member of the American Association,” said American Association commissioner Miles Wolff in a release by the league. “The city has a great baseball history and we look forward to many successful years in Amarillo.”
