The Kansas City T-Bones are excited to announce that Friday, August 12 will be Frank White Day at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
The T-Bones will use this day to celebrate the career of Frank White, an eight-time Gold Glove winner and member of the Royals Hall of Fame. White will be on hand for the festivities, and will throw out the first pitch prior to the game. He will also be available during the game to meet with fans and will take part in a FREE autograph session. On the field, every T-Bones player will wear White’s famous #20 jersey.
Chris Browne, T-Bones Vice President & General Manager, first met White during his years as the Royals’ bat boy and clubhouse attendant.
“It’s an honor to have Frank White at our park on this special night,” Browne said. “It is important to recognize his contributions to baseball, the Royals and to the Kansas City community. He truly is one of our hometown heroes.”
In addition to this special event, the T-Bones have announced a season-long effort to increase awareness of White’s Hall of Fame credentials. At each remaining home game, the T-Bones will continue to have a petition available for fans to sign as a show of support for White’s induction. Following the season, the T-Bones will present the petition to the National Baseball Hall of Fame’s Veteran’s Committee.
“I’d like to say thank you to the T-Bones for honoring me in this way,” White added. “My family and I look forward to a great evening with the fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.”
