Thunderstorms moved through the Kansas City area Saturday morning, but that didn't stop nearly 50 baseball players from around the country to participate in the T-Bones annual open tryout at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
Under the guidance of T-Bones coach Bill Sobbe, plus former professional players and other area coaches, infielders and outfielders were timed in the 40 and went through various fielding and hitting drills. Pitchers, meanwhile, worked out in the T-Bones bullpen.
"We saw a lot of talented players but we didn't sign anyone," said Sobbe. "One great thing about the tryout for some of these guys is that now that we've seen and evaluated them, we can make recommendations to other teams around the league. I'm just glad the rain got through here so we didn't have any type of delay."

The T-Bones open their exhibition season on Monday, May 6, with a 7:05 p.m. game against the Lee's Summit Monarchs at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. The regular season opener is Thursday, May 15, at 7:05 p.m. against Lincoln. Tickets are available by calling 913-328-5640.
