Baseball Heating Up at CommunityAmerica Ballpark

05/10/2005 6:53 PM - KANSAS CITY - T-Bones groundskeeper Don Frantz is one of the busiest men in Kansas City. In addition to the commencement of spring training by the full-time residents of CommunityAmerica Ballpark, the upcoming week holds two baseball tournaments for the Kansas City, Kan., ballpark.

The first, the NAIA Region V Baseball Tournament, begins Wednesday, May 11, with a 12:30 game pitting Liberty’s William Jewell College against the #1 seed in the regional – McKendree (Ill.) College. The game will be followed by a 4:30 pm game between Culver Stockton (Mo.) College and Lindenwood (Mo.) University. The final game of the evening will be between Benedictine College of Atchison, Kan., and Missouri Baptist University.

The games continue Thursday and Friday with games in the same three time slots; the championship game of the regional will take place Saturday, May 14, at 12:30 pm. If necessary, a 4:30 pm game will take place to decide the winner of the double elimination tournament.

Brackets for the tournament are attached. Tickets are just $5 and may be obtained at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in advance as well as at the time of the game.


The schedule for the Kansas State Class 4A Regional will be as follows: Monday, May 16 – four games, at 1:00 pm; 3:00 pm; 5:00 pm; and 7:00 pm. On Wednesday, May 18, there will be three games, at 2:30 pm; 5:00 pm; and 7:30 pm. Tickets are just $4 for adults and may be obtained at CommunityAmerica Ballpark at the time of the game. Local teams playing in the regional include reigning state champions Bishop Ward HS and Eudora HS.


The Kansas City T-Bones are pleased to announce the formation of their “We Care Wednesdays” for the upcoming season. On “We Care Wednesdays”, local charities will be invited to set up tables on the concourse at CommunityAmerica Ballpark. For the low cost of $250, they will receive 20 Select tickets for the game as well as the opportunity to distribute their information to members of the community; the T-Bones averaged over 5,000 fans per game last season.
