Joliet, IL - Behind eleven strikeouts from starter Jason Shelley and a thirteen-hit offensive attack, the Joliet JackHammers stymied the Kansas City T-Bones, 6-1. T-Bones starter Jonathan Krysa allowed ten hits in his six innings of work and was saddled with his second loss in as many starts.
Joliet scored single runs in the first, third, fifth and sixth innings. In the first, the run came across after three consecutive two-out singles from Joliet. The final single, off the bat of Matt McCay, put the JackHammers ahead 1-0.
The second Joliet run scored in the third when Kyle Logan singled, stole second, advanced to third on a throwing error and scored on a Jermaine Allensworth sacrifice fly. The fifth-inning run came on a solo shot by right fielder Josh Loggins, his first of the season.
Kansas City would get on the board in the seventh inning when Rick Prieto hit the first pitch he saw from Shelley over the right-field wall to get the T-Bones within 4-1. T-Bones reliever Adam Clay allowed two runs in the seventh inning for the final margin.
Notes: Kansas City hit into three double plays in the game, had one runner picked off and one caught stealing... Shelley's eleven strikeouts were a season high for the Northern League... Prieto's homer was his first of the season and marks the fifth time in six games a T-Bone has homered.
