KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas City T-Bones announced that right-handed reliever Cody Winiarski has been named to the American Association Postseason All-Star Team as the Relief Pitcher of the Year by a vote of league Mangers and media members.

Winiarski, a native of Union Grove, Wisconsin, had anchored the T-Bones bull pen this season leading the team in appearances with 45 and posting a 1.61 ERA in 50.1 innings of relief. He is currently fourth in the American Association in saves with 20 and has struck out 64 batters as part of a record setting staff that has set a new single season strike out record for the league.

The right-hander has converted seven straight save opportunities with 10 strike outs in seven innings in those save opportunities and he has 14 strike outs in his last 10 innings overall. His 20 saves ties him for second on the Kansas City franchise list for saves in a single season, needing just two more to tie the mark.

Winiarski, a former Chicago White Sox prospect, joined the T-Bones on January 13th. Originally selected in the 36th round by the Chicago White Sox in the 2011 Draft out of the University of Virginia, Winiarski spent parts of five seasons in the White Sox organization.  He went 4-7 in 157.2 innings with 197 strike outs while in the White Sox system adding 26 saves with a 4.00 ERA.
