In a game that saw both teams battle back and forth, the Kansas City T-Bones dropped their second consecutive ballgame to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, losing 9-7 Wednesday night in front of 5,883 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
With the scored tied 7-7 in the eighth, Eric Koflers two-run shot off T-Bone reliever Adam Clay (L, 0-2) proved to be the winner in what was a wild game that saw both teams leave a combined twenty men on base.
All-Star Rick Prieto led the T-Bones with three hits and David Segui drove in two in the losing effort. Fellow all-star pitcher Jon McDonald started the game for the T-Bones and allowed ten hits and six runs in his six innings of work.
Trailing 5-3 in the fifth, the T-Bones scored four runs over the next three frames and took the lead on Eric Vegas seventh inning RBI single. However, the RedHawks clawed back, tying the game in the eighth on a fielders choice and sealing the win with Koflers eighth home run of the year in the same inning.
Along with Kofler, Joe Mathis and Bryon Jeffcoat had big games for the RedHawks both driving in three runs. Brent Krause chipped in with two hits and four at bats while scoring three runs.
Shayn Holbrook (W, 1-0) picked up the victory with his 1 2/3 innings of relief for RedHawks and Doug Young earned his fourth save of the season.
Notes: Prieto extended his hitting streak to seven games with the effort the T-Bones lost the first two games of the second half last season but recovered to win the South Division second-half title.
