The Kansas City T-Bones hammered out fifteen hits, including a season-high seven doubles, in an 11-2 rout of the Schaumburg Flyers in front of 3,144 at Alexian Field in Schaumburg, Ill. T-Bone starter Jonathan Krysa struck out seven in eight innings and allowed just two runs, both on Flyer solo shots.
Kansas City scored twice in the top of the first, with back-to-back doubles from Rafael Rodriguez and Greg Jacobs getting Kansas City on the board. The Flyers would get a solo homer from Geoff McCallum in the bottom of the inning, but Kansas City would score six more times before the Flyers would tally again.
Krysa, who came into the game leading the league in walks and strikeouts, finished his outing likely to be leading the league in the latter category, but not the former. The righthander out of Lee's Summit struck out nine but didn't walk a batter, at one point retiring eleven consecutive Flyers.
Leading the offensive charge for the T-Bones were Greg Jacobs, Mike Brown and Brandon Jones, with three hits apiece. Rodriguez and Jacobs twice doubled consecutively, and Brown, playing left field for the first time this season, hit his fifth homer of the season.
Another Brown, first baseman Ray, smashed his eighteenth double of the season. The two-bagger gives Brown 67 in his tenure with the T-Bones, and makes him the all-time franchise leader in the category.
Notes: Jacobs hit in his fifth straight game... every T-Bone in the starting lineup with the exception of leadoff man Eric Vega had at least one base hit... Caleb Balbuena worked a scoreless ninth inning for the T-Bones, striking out two... Jones, Jacobs and Brown all drove in two runs.
