See you next Season!

Series With Saints Begins Season-Long Ten-Game Homestand

08/12/2005 2:36 PM - The St. Paul Saints (11-14) and T-Bones (10-16) will square off beginning tonight in game one of a three-game set that runs through Sunday. After a nine-game road trip, the T-Bones return to CommunityAmerica Ballpark for ten games to enjoy their longest homestand of the season. Following the Saints’ visit, the T-Bones will play host to the Sioux City X’s and the Gary SouthShore RailCats.

The division-rival Saints make their second trip to Kansas City this season. During their first visit, the Saints dropped two of three and were clinging to a half-game lead over the T-Bones entering the final weeks of play in the first-half. With playoff race tight, and the T-Bones poised to take the series finale, rain washed away the pivotal fourth game and the Saints eventually ended up winning the division leaving the T-Bones to ponder what if.

The T-Bones return to Kansas City losers of seven of their last ten ballgames. The recent struggle has dropped the T-Bones to fifth place in the division and 5.5 games behind the pace. The T-Bones recently acquired pitchers Mike Cosgrove and Joe Gannon, both with AAA experience, to help in the playoff push. Cosgrove has seen time in the bullpen while Gannon, a knuckleballer, will make his T-Bones debut tonight starting opposite of the Saints’ Mike Meyer. Last season, the T-Bones had two separate winning streaks of eight games in the second half, and claimed a playoff spot by winning the division. The T-Bones hope their recent acquisitions, along with their consistent offense, will yield similar results this season.

While the T-Bones are at home, don’t miss the upcoming promotions at the ballpark. On Friday night, skydivers presented by Gomez Concessions will perform before the game and the series opener is also “Dirty” Al Gallagher Look-A-Like Night! Saturday is Hawaiian Luau Night when we say Mahalo Nui to all our faithful fans. Presented by Luxaire and Dey Distributing and followed by Make-A-Wish jersey auction. Also don’t forget post-game fireworks presented by Roger Smith and Sons Toyota and Metro Sports. On Sunday, Kids Run the Bases after the game courtesy of Bob Evans, and seniors (55+) get a dollar off admission thanks to Humana. We’ll also salute the Northern League’s umpires.
