08/17/2005 2:12 PM - Tuesday night, the Kansas City T-Bones announced a trade with the Sioux City Explorers. The T-Bones sent second-year second baseman Michael Brown to the X's for second baseman Gabby Delgado in a straight-up deal.
Delgado, 26, played last season with the Joliet JackHammers and hit .289 for Joliet in 84 games. The native of Carolina, Puerto Rico, struck out once every 13.81 plate appearances, second in the league, and led the Northern League in fielding percentage. In 2005, Delgado split time with Joliet and Sioux City.
Brown, 26, was acquired by the T-Bones from Gary last year at mid-season. After the trade, Brown hit .322 for the T-Bones in 47 games, hitting seven home runs and driving in 35 runs. In 2005, Brown hit .263 for the T-Bones in 73 games with eight home runs and 34 RBI.
"While we hate to lose a bat like Mike Brown's, we're excited to have Gabby in our infield," said T-Bone manager "Dirty" Al Gallagher. "Gabby handles the bat well and is excellent with the glove."
