08/17/2005 2:49 PM - The Kansas City T-Bones are proud to announce their 2005 Salute to the Negro Leagues, to take place this Friday, August 19. The evening's events will include autograph sessions prior to and during the game, a charity auction to raise money for the Negro League Baseball Museum, and the donning of Negro League-replica jerseys by T-Bone players. The evening will be presented by Yellow Book.
The autograph session will include Negro League legend Buck O'Neil; former Kansas City Athletics Joe Azcue and Diego Segui; former Kansas City Royals Marty Pattin, Al Fitzmorris and John Wathan; and longtime Chiefs broadcaster Bill Grigsby. For a $20 donation to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, fans will have the opportunity to have an item of theirs signed by each of the above luminaries.
The charity auction will take place during the game and will feature a cornucopia of baseball memorabilia from around the country. The T-Bones will also auction off the replica Negro League jerseys during the game. Proceeds from both auctions will benefit the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.
The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is the official charity of the Northern League. Located in the historic Jazz District in Kansas City, Mo., it is home to some of the most treasured artifacts from the Negro Leagues.
