05/28/2006 5:44 PM - FARGO While the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks were scoring at will Sunday afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field, the Kansas City T-Bones struggled to muster any offense for the second consecutive day and dropped a decisive 11-1 decision to the host RedHawks.
The RedHawks wasted little time in jumping all over T-Bones starter Buddy Blair, as Allen Mottram doubled home Jesse Hoorelbeke as part of a three-run second. Mottram was just getting started, as he would drive in another run the following inning, before clubbing a two-run homer off David Viane in the fifth to stake the RedHawks to an 8-1 lead. The Fargo-Moorhead catcher added a single in the eighth, finishing 3-for-5 with four runs batted-in.
RedHawks starter Shawn Ryan (2-0), making just his second start as a professional, was equally effective for the home team on the mound. Making just his second professional start, Ryan fanned 10 hitters and limited the T-Bones to just one hit in his seven innings of work to earn the victory.
Blair (0-3), who surrendered five runs in two-plus innings, was tagged with the loss.
The T-Bones will kick off a four-game set with the Winnipeg Goldeyes tomorrow night at CanWest Global Park. Jonathan Krysa (1-1) will get the starting nod for the T-Bones. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
Game Notes: With the loss the T-Bones have dropped their first three series of the season and fell to 2-5 on the road Greg Jacobs went hitless for the first time this season, bringing an end to his 14-game hit streak.
