Despite Incredible Offense T-Bones Come Up Short

08/16/2003 9:39 AM - After a hard fought battle to get the tie for first in the division, the T-Bones have a rough night in Lincoln, losing 11-5. McDonald gave up eight hits for five runs, and Hoyt, Davis and Felkel couldn’t stop the Lincoln bats as well. Hoyt who received the loss (0-1) gave up four hits with two runs in 3.2 innings pitched.

The Lincoln win over-shadowed some excellent T-Bones hitting. Jack Jones hit a two RBI homer to left field in the second inning. Eddie Pearson had three hits out of five at bats for two RBIs. Skip Adams had three hits out of five at bats. Taber Maier went two for four. Catcher Bruce Nelson, who has been struggling at bat lately, hit a single to center field.

With the loss to Lincoln, the T-Bones are now one game back from Fargo. The good news for the T-Bones is that Eddie Pearson is now the league leader in batting average, and RBIs, and is tied for the lead in home runs. Since coming to Kansas City, Eddie has worked his way closer and closer to that “Triple Crown” title, and now it seems it is within his grasp.

The T-Bones continue their three-game series with Lincoln tonight at Haymaker Park. Tony Bacci (5-6, 3.88) is the expected starter for Kansas City, and he will be opposed by Darren Truty (3-5, 3.98) in a 7:05 game.
