John West is starting his seventh year with the T-Bones coaching staff in 2019. West is the invaluable “do it all” member of the coaching staff. The Kansas City native joined the T-Bones as the Equipment Manager/Clubhouse Manager in July 2013. In 2014, he assumed First Base Coaching duties on the road, while continuing his Equipment Manager duties. When Joe Calfapietra took over the reins of the T-Bones he appointed West bench coach. His days are longer than just about anyone on the T-Bones payroll. Once the game is over, he will spend countless nights washing and preparing the club’s uniforms and clubhouse for the next day’s game. On road trips the team would never make it out of town without his efforts to help pack up all the essential gear for the team to compete on the road.
Currently, West works as a Campus Supervisor at North Kansas City High School a position he had held for the last seven years and he spent 15 years as Baseball Coach at NKCHS. He also coached softball and girls’ basketball at the high school in the off-season. West is also a retired KCMO Police Officer spending 27 years on the police force. He was a Kansas City Royals Batboy from 1977-1984 making playoffs and the World Series in 1980. West has been married to the "Love of my Life" Carolyn for 30 years and they have three grown children. In his spare time West enjoys traveling, going to the movies, and golfing. West adds, “I want to thank my crew of Clubhouse Assistants and Batboys for being the best crew in the league and making my job easy. “
