07/03/2004 9:41 AM - July 3, 2004

SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Home runs by Chad Shindle and Chad Hill and a two-run double by Ray Brown paced the T-Bones to a 5-2 win over the Sioux City Explorers in Sioux City, IA, Saturday night.

Shindle homered to give the T-Bones a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. His two-run shot broke an 0-16 slump. Sioux City came back with two in the bottom of the third against starter Jonathan Krysa (4-6), with a double by Marcel Longmire and a sacrifice fly by Bobby Brown bringing home the runs, both of which were unearned.

The T-Bones broke the tie with a two-out rally in the fifth. Rick Prieto singled and advanced to third on an Eddie Pearson single to right. Brown then doubled into the left-centerfield gap to score both runners and make it 4-2. The T-Bones would add an insurance run on a homer by Hill with two outs in the top of the ninth against reliever Tony Evans.

D.J. Johnson walked the first two batters he saw to start the bottom of the ninth, but whiffed two of the next three batters to earn his ninth save of the season.

The T-Bones will try to take 2 of 3 from the Explorers tomorrow at 12:05 pm. Greg Bicknell (3-0) will start for the T-Bones against lefty Kevin Sprague (0-2). The game will be broadcast live on All Comedy Radio 1340 and www.tbonesbaseball.com.
